Beverton, Ray (1922-1995)[]

Beverton is most famous in fisheries cirles as co-author of Beverton, R. J. H., and S. J. Holt. 1957. On the dynamics of exploited fish populations. Chapman and Hall, London. A book which laid the theoretical platform for the institutionalisation of fisheries management in the latter part of the 20th century. The fact that he later criticised some of the concepts in this early work, and the way in which others had been misinterpreted and misapplied by later generations of fishery biologists, is not often quoted.

Garcia, Serge[]

Retired as Director of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Department of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) in 2007. Most recently, Garcia played a seminal role in the articulation of the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management [1]

Hilborn, Ray[]

Ray Hilborn is currently Professor of Fisheries Management in the School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences, University of Washington

Hurry, Glenn[]

Glenn Hurry is Managing Director of the Australian Fisheries Management Authority and current (2008) Chair of the Commission for the Conservation and Management of Highly Migratory Fish Stocks in the Western and Central Pacific [WCPFC]

Lewis, Antony[]

Fisherman, scientist and noted bon vivant, "Dr Fish" has variously run fisheries research for the Fiji government, run the National Fisheries Authority in Papua New Guinea, and run the SPC Oceanic Fisheries Programme. He is currently a freelance consultant working either out of Brisbane or aboard a pole and liner somewhere in Melanesia, tagging tuna.

Pauly, Daniel (1946- )[]

Dan Pauly became Director of the Fisheries Centre at the University of British Columbia after working with the International Center for Living Aquatic Resources Management (ICLARM, now Worldfish).

Ridgeway, Lori[]

Lori Ridgeway, Director General of International Policy for the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Canada, and Lead Shepherd of the APEC Fisheries Working Group (2007).

Simonds, Kitty[]

Executive Director of the USA's Western Pacific Fishery Management Council.

Walters, Carl[]

Carl Walters is a professor at the Fisheries Centre of the University of British Columbia.
